Why watch DXY at all?

The crypto market does not live in a vacuum. Even if we trade BTC, ETH or alts, there is always an external background around us: the dollar, rates, yields, the stock market, liquidity, fear and risk appetite. The DXY helps us see one of the most important elements of this background - the strength of the dollar.

A beginner often opens a chart of a coin and looks only at it. The price has approached the level, there is a rebound, the candle is green - that means you can take it. But if at this moment the dollar strengthens sharply, the market is moving away from risk, BTC is under pressure, and alts are not receiving liquidity, even a beautiful setup may not give a normal movement.

DXY is not needed to guess every candle. It is needed to understand the market climate. If there is a storm outside, you can find a good route, but the risk is still higher. If the weather is calm, even the usual route becomes safer. DXY is part of such a weather chart for risk.
