What is TOTAL
TOTAL is the total capitalization of the crypto market.
Simply put, this is a graph that shows the total value of the crypto market. It includes BTC, ETH, alts, big coins and other assets that are included in the index.
If TOTAL increases, it means that the total market capitalization is increasing. Money in general enters the crypto market or assets within the market become more expensive. If TOTAL falls, then market capitalization is declining.
But it is important to understand one thing: TOTAL does not show exactly where the money is going.
The market can grow due to BTC. Can grow due to ETH. Can grow at the expense of alts. Or it can grow unevenly, when several large assets pull the index up, while most coins stand or fall.
Therefore, TOTAL is useful as a general indicator of market health, but it is too broad. It shows whether the crypto market as a whole is growing, but does not answer the question of whether the segment we want to trade is gaining strength.
If you are trading BTC, TOTAL can be useful as background. If you trade alts, TOTAL is not enough.
