What is USDT.D
USDT.D is Tether's dominance. It shows what share of the total crypto market capitalization is USDT.
Simply put, the entire market can be thought of as one big pie. This pie includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, alts, memcoins, stables and other assets. USDT.D shows how much of this pie is currently in USDT.
If USDT.D rises, it means that USDT's share of the market is increasing. But it’s important to understand that this doesn’t always happen just because people are buying USDT in droves. Dominance can grow for two main reasons.
The first reason is that market participants really go into stables. They sell BTC, ETH, alts and hold capital in USDT because they are afraid of a fall, are waiting for a better entry point or are taking profits.
Second reason - the market is falling, the capitalization of BTC and alts is decreasing, but USDT remains stable. In this case, the share of USDT automatically becomes larger, even if the stables themselves in the market have not become much larger.
Therefore, USDT.D cannot be read too primitively. You can’t just say: USDT.D is growing, which means the market is definitely falling. You need to look at what is happening simultaneously with BTC, BTC.D, ETH.D, TOTAL, TOTAL2 and the capitalization of USDT itself.
